Auditing Control
PowerTech recommended setting: *AUDLVL, *OBJAUD, *NOQTEMP = Audit these values.
Importance: High
Purpose: This system value determines where System Auditing is controlled. *AUDLVL specifies that the System Value QAUDLVL will control auditing. The setting *OBJAUD specifies that individual objects may specify additional auditing requirements, and *NOQTEMP specifies that objects that are placed in any QTEMP library are not to be audited.
If QAUDCTL is set to *NONE, the value specified in QAUDLVL is insignificant, since the system will not audit activities.
Risks and Concerns: While auditing can increase the amount of I/O activity on a system, the overall impact is quite small, and is more than offset by the increased visibility of important operations. System Auditing should be turned on. To minimize the amount of journal entries generated by this option, it is reasonable to choose not to audit objects in QTEMP.
