Auditing force level

PowerTech recommended setting: *SYS

Importance: Low

Purpose: This system value controls the amount of caching that the AS/400 is allowed to do before audit entries are committed to disk.  Setting this value too low can cause considerable additional overhead due to the need to commit each entry to disk before another entry system action can be done.  For performance reasons it is best to leave this System Value at *SYS which allows the operating system to determine how often it needs to commit transactions.

Risks and Concerns: Setting this value to anything other than *SYS could have a detrimental effect on system performance. The reason for this value's existence was so that the AS/400 could receive the U.S. D.O.D. C2 rating, which is not relevant to most business environments.
