Time-out Period for Inactive Jobs

PowerTech recommended setting: 30 = 30 Minutes

Importance: High

Purpose: Controls how long a terminal can sit unused before some action is taken.  The action taken is listed in the system value QINACTMSGQ.

If QINACTITV is set to *NONE, the value specified in QINACTMSGQ is not significant, since workstations will never time out due to inactivity.

Risks and Concerns: Users will need to be informed of the effect of this, as well as the QINACTMSGQ, system values. Leaving a terminal unattended for too long a period of time can expose application programs and system functions to intrusion and abuse by a passer-by.
