Elwood Howse, Jr.
Chairman and Director
An investor and advisor to the company. He is also currently a director of Applied Microsystems, Inc. (APMC), ImageX.com, Inc. (IMGX), OrthoLogic Corp (OLGC) and several private companies. In 1977, Mr. Howse and Mr. Cable formed Cable & Howse Ventures, a technology focused, early stage oriented venture capital firm. Cable & Howse Ventures was the first professionally managed, institutionally funded venture capital company in the Northwest. The company has managed five venture capital partnerships aggregating $160 million. These partnerships have invested in a total of 103 companies including a number of successful Northwest companies such as Immunex, ZymoGenetics, Wall Data, Sequent Computer and others. In 1982, Mr. Howse also participated in the founding of Cable, Howse & Ragen, an investment banking and stock brokerage firm, today known as Ragen, MacKenzie. Mr. Howse is now semi-retired and investing for his own portfolio.
Steve Kirby
Director and the co-fund manager of Bluestem Capital Company
A graduate of Arizona State University with a BS Degree in Political Science and a graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law with a Juris Doctorate Degree. Mr. Kirby was secretary and senior claim counsel for Western Surety Company, a national surety bond company from 1977-1992. He was also the 35th Lieutenant Governor of the State of South Dakota from 1993 through 1995. Mr. Kirby is extensively involved in civic activities both locally and nationally.
Melissa Widner
General Partner at SeaPoint Ventures
A strong background in founding and growing companies through her experience as CEO of 7Software and Northwest Supply. While a student at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Ms. Widner co-founded 7Software, a provider of Web-based tools for business to business procurement automation. As CEO and founder of 7Software, she managed the company from inception to a successful acquisition by Concur Technologies, Inc. At Concur Ms. Widner served as Director of Strategic Business Development in charge of creating and managing e-commerce partnerships. Prior to graduate school, she was the CEO of Northwest Supply, a forty year old distressed distributor. Ms. Widner orchestrated a successful turn around, and after four years sold the company netting a 1500% return to investors. She also serves on the Board of Hubspan and fills SeaPoint's board observer role at Talisma. She is the past President and a founding member of the Seattle chapter of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and a member of the board of Alliance of Angels. Ms. Widner holds a Masters degree from Stanford University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Washington.
