Jonathan Scott
President and Chief Executive Officer Jon is a seasoned software and technology services executive. He previously served as President and CEO of Microserv Technology Services prior to their acquisition by Halifax Corporation (HX:AMEX) where he continued in the role of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to this he was founder and principal of New Venture Associates, a firm providing strategic advisory services to early stage venture funded technology companies. He also served as President and COO of Traveling Software, Inc., a leading communications software company. Prior to this he served in executive, sales, marketing and business development roles in the software industry. Mr. Scott has a BA Degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University. He is a current board member of Evergreen Fuel Technologies, Inc., the Service Industry Association and past instructor in the University of Washington’s program on software product management.
Jeff Bergstrom CFO - Chief Financial OfficerJeff is a senior financial and operating executive who has held a number of leadership positions in various software and internet companies. Most recently, Jeff has served as Senior Director of Finance for the Automation and Information Division of AREVA T&D, Inc. Prior to this, Jeff served as Senior Vice President for Go2Net, Inc. He also served as Corporate Controller for Risk Management, Inc. in Menlo Park, CA. Jeff is a licensed CPA in California and Washington, he has served in numerous audit roles with Arthur Anderson. He has a BA degree and Masters in Finance from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Masters in Taxation degree from the University of Washington.
 John Earl CTO - Chief Technical Officer and Vice President
John Earl is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, as well as a co-founder, of The PowerTech Group, a Seattle area software company that specializes in System i security. He has over 25 years experience with IBM midrange systems and security, has published numerous articles and columns for industry magazines, and served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Security for COMMON. A highly regarded speaker on OS/400 security, Mr. Earl has presented several hundred of iSeries security sessions at industry conferences and user groups all over the world. He is a three time winner of COMMON's Speaker Excellence award, and has also served on the board of directors of COMMON U.S.
Jack McAfee Vice President of DevelopmentJack is responsible for the development of new products, as well as the enhancement and maintenance of existing PowerTech products. Previously, he co-founded and was President of TriAWorks, Inc., which helped its customers achieve password reduction with the benefit of Single Sign-On. Jack served 5 years as the Director for iSeries Products for other security and system management ISVs and 11 years at IBM Rochester in various technical and management roles. He has been a speaker at COMMON and various Local User Groups and holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Arizona.
Roger Shanafelt Vice President of Sales and Business Development
Roger is responsible for sales and business development. He has over 20 years experience in high technology sales and marketing Prior to joining PowerTech, Roger served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for 2 technology firms; DocuSign, an on-demand electronic signature service, and Myrio Corporation, the leading provider of IP video software and services to broadband services providers offering the triple play of voice, video, and data services. Prior to Myrio, Roger served in various sales and marketing leadership positions at companies such as Loudcloud, Exodus, @Home, and U S West. He spent the early part of his career at Microsoft where we worked in both technical and marketing roles in support of Microsoft Windows. As a network engineer, he also worked for several regional system integrators designing, selling, deploying and supporting local and wide area networks. Roger holds a B.S in Computer Science from Pacific Lutheran University. He also serves on the board of the Compass Center, a non-profit organization serving the homeless in King County.
Brendan Patterson Vice President of Marketing
As Vice President of Marketing, Brendan Patterson is responsible for all marketing and product management activities at The PowerTech Group. Brendan has more than 17 years of experience in the high-tech industry. In his four years at PowerTech, Brendan has directed product management and marketing for the Company’s complete suite of security and compliance software products. He was instrumental in expanding the product line and the successful launch of the new Authority Broker and Compliance Monitor products. Brendan has spoken at industry events and been published in the System i press. Previously he held product management positions at GoAhead Software, a leading provider of High Availability and Management middleware, and Webforia, an Internet portal company. He has also has technical and management experience at Parametric Technology Corporation, a computer aided design software company, and Boeing Commercial Aircraft. Brendan has a master's degree in the Management of Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass., and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the National University of Ireland.
Dan Riehl Director of Services
Dan Riehl is the Director of Services for PowerTech. He has consulted on-site for some of the largest corporations in the world, helping them perform OS/400 security assessments and implement enhanced security plans.
Dan’s column, "Security Central," appears regularly in iSeries NEWS Magazine, where he has been a Technical Editor and contributing author for 18 years. He is the writer and editor for the iSeries Network Club Tech Systems Management Newsletter and regularly teaches classes and seminars on iSeries security and other technical topics. Terry Heath
Director EMEA
Terry has more than twenty years experience in the mid-range, large systems marketplace. He formed his own company, H&H Software, in 1988 where he successfully launched many US software companies into the EMEA marketplace. In 1998 Terry co founded SoftScreen Ltd, which later became known as SafeStone. After spending four years at DRM company Miterix, Terry joined Powertech in 2005 to head up PowerTech’s expansion into Europe. Terry is a graduate in politics and economics from the University of Hull, UK.
