Services
Typically PowerTech single sign-on is implemented in a series of steps. Our proven methodology is flexible enough to adapt to your company's specific needs and timing. SSO implementation is non-disruptive since it is based on IBM's Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM) infrastructure, which is already included with OS/400.
Step 1: Check Environment
With our PowerLock Inspector tool, we assess your environment's readiness for SSO by:
  • Checking Operating System versions, PTF levels, and prerequisite features on all iSeries systems.
  • Verifying Windows Network and Kerberos server requirements.
  • Confirming that client software can take advantage of Kerberos authentication.
  • Guiding you on upgrading to the latest components necessary for the SSO architecture, if necessary.
Step 2: Configure infrastructure
PowerTech consulting professionals will configure the base technology for SSO in your environment, including:
  • Configuring the iSeries Network Authentication Service (Kerberos)
  • Setting up EIM and the EIM Domain controller(s)
Step 3: Populate users
Once the basic foundation is in place, you need to populate the EIM repository. Each user profile on your enterprise's server systems must be associated with their Windows accounts and a person's real name. PowerTech's award-winning tool PowerLock EasyPass cuts the time required to create these associations from days to minutes. Without this product, user configuration is a manual, laborious, and time consuming process.
Step 4: Go live!
Applications must be switched over to take advantage of SSO. Once users are using SSO, you can eliminate the profile's password on OS/400 by setting it to *NONE. PowerTech will guide you through the process of eliminating passwords and make recommendations as to which important profiles must keep passwords. Beyond implementation, PowerTech will train you to manage your SSO solution on an ongoing basis with the least disruption to your valuable time. With the PowerLock EasyPass product, you can easily:
  • Enable new people for SSO
  • Remove access in one quick step when people leave the company
  • Run reports to maintain the integrity of your SSO implementation
Count on PowerTech to provide the expertise you need from start to finish on your SSO project. Our consulting professionals can provide both remote and on-site services to help you implement SSO.
